I have never been a coffee drinker, but wanted to switch to espresso shots from energy drinks. After trying MANY different coffee beans, this was the winner for our household. Coffee is so subjective, but we like it. Even the long term coffee fans in the house prefer espresso with this over any of the local coffee shops. A double espresso shot does the trick for me as far as caffeination goes.

I had wanted to try this after trying a different kicking horse through a friend. It was available during prime day so it made it worth it to try it.
I brew this with my Breville Barista Express. I really like the kicking Horse Cliff Hangers unique flavors. It has a very smooth yet bold taste. I have tried Lavazza and Starbucks beans I seem to like this one much more and usually my pick every morning over the other 2 I have.
This one is a medium roast but tastes a bit more like a dark roast but still not a dark roast. If you are a fan of medium/dark roasts like me then this will also be suitable for you.
If you are like me and have trouble choosing which beans to try. Kicking Horse Cliff Hanger is worth a try.
Price is a bit more pricey than what I like since we drink a lot of drinkers at home so the beans go fast.

Once in a while I would go on a journey and search for the next best tasteful bean, with reasonable amount of money can buy … (less than $20/lb) Ended up always come back to this one, and so what I did is sign up for Amazon subscription. Roam free and try new stuff, yet keep my palate alive and calibrated with this awesome dark roasted beans!
Not sure how this is even possible, flavor is super complex in this one, you get to extract different flavor and note highlights simply buy grinding this finer / coarser, and not to mention French press brewing it with different water temperature changes the whole experience too!
My recommendation? Get the whole bean and invest in a good burr grinder, then join me with the coffee tasting adventure, cheers.
Also, bean roasted in BC Canada is the cherry on the cake.

I’ve been looking for a coffee that stands up to a super-automatic espresso machine (mine is a new Gaggia Magenta Plus). Super-automatics are convenient but shot times tend to be very short which can lead to under-extraction of the coffee flavor. I set my shot volume to a Ristretto (30ml) which is only a 3 or 4 second pour. The trick was to find a bolder roast that wasn’t bitter or too oily for a super-automatic. Most I tried kind of ‘scraped’ my tongue with harshness. Kicking Horse Coffee – Cliff Hanger Espresso has a nice deep flavor without bitterness and has a long finish. The crema isn’t great but it’s no worse than any of the others I’ve tried. I had one a minute ago and it’s still hanging pleasantly on my tongue.
