BLUF: Low-price grinder that grinds coffee with a quality that matches the price.

Detailed Review:
You may bust a knuckle as you crank the handle. For me, I have to try really hard not to knock my knuckles on the metal arm as I turn the crank.

The materials are low-quality all around. The metal body is thin and flexes. The “glass is actually clear plastic. The bur that grinds the coffee flexes quite a bit, which makes the the grind quality very inconsistent. You can see that in the attached pre-brewed picture. Post-brew, you can see a rather thick sludge that formed based on some of the grounds being almost powder-like while others were large enough to be the expected size. That sludge will gum up your filter papers and extend brewing times. Adjusting the grind to a courser grind will create much larger grinds on the one end, but it does reduce the sludge… some.

From a capacity perspective, I’ve put about 25-30 grams of coffee in the grinder. I’ve ground more, but I would not recommend it. Not only is the bottom receptacle fairly small, the time and effort it takes to grind will wear your arm out.

If you’re not picky and not looking for a consistent grind, this grinder will grind your coffee at an acceptable level for an affordable price. Stick to small batches (250-500 ml water and 15-30 g coffee).

If you’re looking for a more consistent grind, you’ll want something a bit nicer. But you probably already expected as much given the price point.

Works well especially when no power is available and you want to make coffee. Please note that you must grind for a while to grind the coffee beans. It does not grind quickly.

I have been using this little coffee grinder for awhile now. I was a little concerned at first, because the internals are made from some kind of ABS or Nylon plastic. I wasn’t sure how well it would really work. I have ground lots of coffee in it with great results so far. My only complaint is that if you want to make a full pot of coffee, you will have to load this thing a couple times, and it is manual, so be ready lol… Overall I would recommend, it would be great for camping trips, or someone who just likes a couple cups now and then.

While this does the job it’s made to do, it leaves something to be desired on several fronts:

1. The Grind
While I was able to adjust the coarseness of the grind, as had to pop onto Amazon to look for directions, as this isn’t packaged with any. Ditto for cleaning instructions. That said, it grinds coffee beans and whole spices well enough but takes more effort than with larger manual grinders.

2. Also The Grind
In addition to taking some muscle, this grinds slowly, so patience is a must. It will get the job done eventually, but plan ahead as it’ll take some time.

The Design
The handle for the grinder isn’t attached to the rest of it in any way. It slips over a nut at the top but also slips right off. At first I was wondering if it was missing a piece to secure the handle in place, but then I realized that the handle needs to be removed each time you want to load beans or spices into the body of the grinder. Again, this isn’t the end of the world, but it isn’t an elegant design, either.
As the main use for this is likely to be to use while traveling, the prospect of the handle separating from the rest of it and getting lost is concerning.

Overall, this is a functional but inelegant little grinder, fairly well suited to travel or light occasional use, but unlikely to dethrone models at higher price points.
