Am I going to use this every day? Of course not! I have my favorite KitchenAid Burr Grinder for that … but I like to take a grinder and coffee maker with me when I travel and this is perfect. Yes, it is slow. Yes, you may have to work in batches (it grinds about 4T at a time) Yes, I am sure there are other “complaints” more coffee snobs (as use that term with affection) … but it sure beats the alternative. I have NEVER seen a portable burr grinder. Especially one with pretty great results. So just be happy!

I ordered this EEDREAM Portable Electric Burr Coffee Grinder to grind coffee for reusable K Cups.
I have a large burr grinder that I’ve been using to grind coffee for reusable K Cups. The problem is that my grinder is large and every time I use it I end up with coffee grounds flying through the air because of static electricity. It’s also a bit of a pain to get the grinder from its storage location, move it to my counter, and plug it in. As a result, I tend to fill as many K Cups as I can so my coffee is not freshly ground.
This little grinder is great for grinding small amounts of coffee. With a stated capacity of 25 grams I can usually fill 2 K Cups from a single grind. I will say that the grinder produces quite a bit of noise for its size, and the adjustment for grind size is a bit confusing. There is still a static electricity issue, but because this grinder is small, that seems to be less of a problem than with my large grinder.
The grinder operates with an internal rechargeable battery that recharges with the included USB-C cable. No charging block is included, so you’ll need your own. If you’re thinking about using this as an all-purpose coffee grinder, you might want to consider something larger, as it will take quite a bit of time and several refills to produce enough ground coffee for 10 or 12 cups. For filling K Cups or for a pourover, this little grinder works great.

I was really surprised to see a burr grinder this size. Typically these cylinder shaped small grinders are blade grinders which are fine for typical drip coffee but not so great for French press or espresso. A burr grinder is a must have if you want more control over your grind. Typically they’re large bulky machines and take up a decent amount of counter space. I was really curious to see how this little grinder would perform. Happy to say it’s pretty excellent as far as portable grinders go.
This grinder mostly stacks up against my full size, far more expensive, model. I’m sure professional baristas and coffee aficionados would find flaws but the grind to my amateurs’ eyes is virtually indistinguishable from my full size grinder at similar settings. The main drawback vs my full size is the speed. This grinder is slow, really slow. For its portable, small batch, intended purpose that’s likely not an issue but just be prepared to wait especially if you need to grind a lot of beans for say a full pot of coffee. It takes minutes, not seconds.
The hopper holds about 4 TBSP of beans max which is more than it looks like it will hold but might be less than you need for a full pot without grinding in batches. I found that it took about 2 full minutes to grind the full hopper amount. If you’re making a larger batch of coffee, or in my case cold-brew, it can take a long time to grind enough beans. My cold-brew recipe uses 8 TBSP per batch for example. To grind enough beans for my cold-brew I had to do two batches which took about 5 minutes total. My full size grinder this would take 15 seconds for comparison.
Fortunately the grinder also features a fairly smart auto-shutoff so you can start it and just leave it to do its thing. Once it’s through the current hopper of beans it will shut off rather than spin on empty. Even my full size grinder doesn’t do this. This makes up for the speed issue because you don’t really have to babysit it.
A note on the grind settings: When I first tested out this grinder I misunderstood the grind settings. The knob has five circles on it indicating the direction from Fine->Coarse. At first I mistook this as five specific grind settings only. I was prepared to leave a less favorable review as every setting came out exactly the same “medium” drip coffee grind. It wasn’t until I had a facepalm moment and realized that you can continuously turn the knob 360 degrees to adjust the grind from very fine to very coarse. Once I realized my mistake I found this grinder to be extremely flexible.
The pictures I’ve included show the widest(coarse) setting and the smallest (finest) grind I could produce. As you can see from the phots this product can produce anywhere from a very coarse barley cracked bean, to very fine grind which should cover the range from French Press to Espresso. While this won’t replace my full size grinder at home I will absolutely be taking this with me on my upcoming vacation instead of pre-grinding all my beans for the week as I’ve done before. Now I can enjoy my coffee as fresh as possible.

Works well enough, and cleans easily. About the value you’d expect for an off brand.

Slow to grind, in my opinion, but grinds well. In fact, operates better than I expected for the price point. I use the grinder for my k-cup, so small grinder size and capacity is sufficient for me.

✍️ I needed to grind coffee beans for my french press. This one is able to grind them at a tiny fine texture. You can change the coarseness of the grind by twisting the blades inside. It was very easy to do. The size is great if I ever need to bring it anywhere. The size is bad if you need to grind a lot of coffee. It can max out at about 3 teaspoons of coffee beans which is usually enough for my french press. I really like how I can recharge it via USB-C. I fully charged it once and I haven’t had to recharge it after a month of use. The only other bad bad thing is that it is loud. I use it as a 2nd alarm for my son when I need him to wake up for school. Once he hears the grinder, he knows it’s wake up time. For maintenance, it comes with a tiny brush to clean coffee grinds off the blades and container. It works well. It’s just a small brush so it’s a bit annoying to clean after grinding coffee. Besides those minor weaknesses, I would recommend this grinder. I’m very happy with it.
