As others have said don’t use the numbers to correlate your clicks as when you take this apart and then put together again unless the dial is in the same exact spot before you dismantled it the number it lands on will be different each time. Just follow the directions and keep track of how many clicks works for you and keep that the same.

This grinder is solidly built and adjustable enough for varying types of brewing. I use it primarily for my Moka pot, but it could be adjusted to grind for cold press, pour-over, or automatic coffee makers.
It is easy to disassemble and assemble for cleaning and produces consistent grinds once set to produce the size of grounds you need for your application.
It does take some experimentation to get the proper grind for your maket, but it only takes a small amount of testing to figure out what you need.
I use it quite often and I am very pleased with the performance of the product.
The small size makes the unit ideal for packing on trips and doesn’t take up much space on countertops or in cupboards.

I’m very happy with my new grinder! First of all, it’s AMAZINGLY high quality and it has some nice weight to it. You will notice right away that it’s quality made. I used it right away to grind my coffee beans to make my pour over coffee and the only think I wish it had was a bit bigger capacity because I make an XL size cup of coffee – so I have to grind 2 batches of beans but all in all it’s really great, feels expensive and works well. This will replace my little electric bean grinder that I’ve now been using to grind my spices.

I have been roasting my own beans at home and wanted to start making espresso with it. At first I had believed the setting wouldn’t go finer and it kept making coarse granules. After I realized you have to keep turning the grind setting clockwise until it won’t turn anymore that’s when I learned it would grind very fine. Very good quality I would say for my first and hopefully last espresso grinder.

Like most people I only write reviews if I’m extremely happy or disappointed with a product. This time, I’m happy to say, that I can write a review about something that screams quality. From the packaging, to the accessory brush, to the machined aluminum body, this grinder is solid! I like an occasional flavored coffee whose beans can be very oily and plug up the internal grinder of my automatic espresso machine. The espresso setting of the Alpaca grinder will grind the bean so fine that my DeLonghi Magnifica S can’t pump through it, I had to take the grinder setting back to 5 to get the right extraction for a perfect double shot for my Americano. It’s portable, quite, well built and needs no electricity; what more could you ask for?

I work for a manufacturing company with access to a couple nifty tools. I had a few minutes to kill and thought I would verify a couple claims on this burr grinder. Is it really 420 stainless steel hardened to 57 HRC? I’m registered with my state to use x-ray equipment and certified for using an XRF analyzer that can identify metal alloys. I can’t measure carbon content with XRF, but based on the chemistry and hardness this is 420 stainless steel on both burr pieces. I also checked the hardness with a calibrated Wilson Rockwell Series 2000 hardness tester, both burrs were around 55 HRC. Unless you’re turning sand to flour with this grinder, the burrs will outlast everything else. Well done!
Overall the build quality is good. It doesn’t use metal components in all the critical parts. I do wish the insert that receives the cone in the body was something other than plastic. You can see this in one of the pictures I attached.
I wish I had a sieve set to quantify the consistency of the grind, but it looked good.
The bearings give this a smooth grinding action. It will take a small amount effort to grind 25 grams of beans.
I would guess most grinders are not easy to clean, this is no different. They give you a nice bush, but you’re not going to get very far without compressed air to free your grinder of all its hard work.
