I had asked the company about cleaning the burrs and all they did was send me a copy of the manual that comes with the machine, said to read it and that the housing doesn’t come off. They also told me they do not sell replacement burrs so I thought it was an all-in-one machine that when it breaks you throw it away, which actually kinda angered me. But anyway, I told them I already received the manual in the box with the machine. A couple days ago, I decided to start turning the cup to the left to see what happens and sure enough it screws off so you can clean the burrs! Why couldn’t they just tell me this? They know nothing about customer service and being courteous and helpful, which is okay, I won’t need them for anything else. I haven’t measured the burrs yet, but there’s a chance, since they are removable with typical screws, that if needed you might actually find replacement burrs somewhere…

The machine is very loud but that’s easy to explain. It’s pretty much thin hollowed out plastic with everything including the housing, and there is no dampening material inside. I thought about taking it apart and putting some of the adhesive foam in there, but I am not sure if the machine would overheat or not, so I just accept the noise.

It grinds different for each setting like it should, it does NOT take that long to get some ground coffee and now that I took the plunge, I am spoiled. I still have 3/4 of a can of store bought ground coffee and really do NOT want to go back to it!!! I know I have to, because it’s expensive, so use it and don’t waste it, but I will truly be happy when it’s gone! LOL

And I am not a big stickler for everything to match, as I am getting something that really works. But it looks like it goes with my coffee maker. lol

After some difficulty getting the item successfully delivered (took two orders) I was rewarded with a compact burr grinder. Mostly got this to grind coffee for our percolator when we are camping as the pre-ground name brand coffee is just ground way to fine. Gave it a test run at the house and am now hooked on using it full time. Even in our drip coffee maker the grind from the name brand is so fine it plugs the paper coffee filter causing it to overflow into the pot (taking grounds with it) or if I use the wire mesh filter it deposits a lot of extremely fine coffee grounds into the pot. I’ve used bladed grinders in the past with the same issue – either over pulverized the coffee or under – hardly ever got it just right. This grinder allows me to select the grind and it’s pretty much right on the mark every time – no guesswork any more. I will admit, the drawback is it’s kind of loud and takes a bit to get the coffee ground but it works better than I could have hoped for. It does have some room for improvement, the design of the coffee bean reservoir doesn’t vibrate enough or isn’t funneled enough to keep the beans dropping into the grind section so every now and then I have to slightly shake the grinder to get the beans moving again.

**Update – After a few bags of beans, I’ve decided to upgrade to another grinder, the static generated and having to stand by the grinder to shake it has become an issue. While I recommended it earlier, now I’m not sure I can give it a good recommendation. I’ve removed one additional star for these reasons.

This is the first and only grinder that I have tried. It seems a bit noisy while grinding (may be normal?) As I have no point of reference this may be a perfect grinder. It produces a great grind that is easily adjusted to fit the users’ desires. I have no complaints other that the grinding noise, which isn’t a real problem, just a mild annoyance. I use it every day and my coffee definitely has a better taste than pre-ground beans. I have been doing a modified pour-over version into a French press and like the results.
