Daniel H. Hechtman –
It grinds the beans quite well. I like the appearance. I read the criticism about the noise, but hey it’s a grinder.
R. Hermann –
First of all, I love the end result; the burr grinder grinds the coffee beans very differently from the way cheaper, rotating blade grinders do ( which seem to pulverize the beans). Much greater “bloom” when adding water (I make my beverage manually, in a cone shaped coffee dripper), and a great flavor.
I also like the adjustable grind available, from coarse to espresso, that is easy to adjust. The 8 ounce hopper is also nice. So why only three stars?
Well, first of all, it is much slower than a blade grinder, but that is to be expected, I suppose, due the grinding process itself.
Next, one can preset the amount of beans to grind at a time (the default is “14 cups”, which actually makes about 5 eight ounce cups at the strength I prefer). The manual setting is better, I think.
But the biggest issue for me is the noise. I get that it’s grinding roasted coffee beans; I’m not expecting it to be whisper quiet. But turning it on wakes up my whole household, and since it takes 90 seconds or so to grind enough for a batch, at least three times longer than my blade grinder, that’s long enough to prevent anyone from getting back to sleep. This makes the grinder, and me, very unpopular with those who like to wake up later than me.
It’s loud enough, with its associated additional squeaks and grinds, that I can’t use it on a regular basis without upsetting the household.
So, bottom line, I’m very disappointed in the usability of this little device, despite the way it grinds. Thus, only three stars.

I love the way it looks. I like the LED programable screen. Yes it is noisy, but what grinder of anything ever is quite? The grind select is very good. This is an appliance that you will not want to hide or of sight.
