Nero1999 –
Not the robust build of the original but works well enough to keep. I don’t expect it to last as long as the original.

This crossplate was exactly what I needed for my French press.

I have a French press sold by Bodum through Williams Sonoma about 15 years ago or more . It was a $100.00 then and the stainless is still in outstanding condition. The cross plate was starting to show signs of wear so I went looking for a replacement part on Amazon not really expecting to find one. Thanks to a customer review or answer which gave the diameter of the V1508-ISR part as 3.5 inches I decided to order it to see if I had a chance of saving my press!!! It works and the impressive part is that Bodum designed this with the metal nut my press used already as a part of the cross plate so that by taking mine off it was a perfect fit !!!! Truly impressive !!!

Got this as a replacement filter for my Bodum and was very happy to see that a) the part fit perfectly and b) somehow it actually filters better than before. I think the silicone ring is a bit wider preventing particulate from coming up the sides.
Sean Cheriton –
this a good replacement for the original one no more grounds in my coffee
Amazon Customer –
Works well but i have to say it’s pricy.

The size seems about right but it just won’t screw on to older much loved double barrel stainless steel French press bought at Starbucks (made by Bodem) So for those looking for a fit for your 2003ish Starbucks press this isn’t It unfortunately.

The grounds slip around the silicon and up into the coffee when pressed.
It almost makes more sense just to remove it, and pour the slurry direct from the pot.
UPDATE: The problem was my pot, not the screen. The top of the pot is worn, so the plunger has a tendency to go down crooked, If I’m not careful when I push it down, it goees at an angle, and that’s what was causing the grounds to leak. As long as I pinch the rod as I’m pushing it down, and do it slow and straght, it works perfectly.

I prefer this to the all metal plate, even though I don’t like the idea of the plastic . Ideally they will come up with a more sustainable version of this product that works well and is environmentally friendly. The problem with the all metal version of this product is that many grains of coffee slip through the sides after you plunge it down. The soft plastic edge of this cross plate fits snugly against the edge of the coffee maker preventing coffee grinds from slipping through. I have run it through the dishwasher many times and it seems to stand up to it just fine.

As another reviewer mentioned, this quick replacement has revived my old Stainless Steel Bodum that was collecting dust in the cupboard. The new filter does seem to hug the sides better and you get fewer grounds making their way through. I gave 4 stars only because the mechanism is largely plastic, vs the old one that was metal, so I’m concerned about how long it will last. One reviewer posted a pic showing one with metal pieces, which I would guess is an older version – what I received was plastic, exactly as shown in the seller’s photos.

My 34oz Bodum has been great since I bought it 3 years ago on Amazon. The new plunger head does not fit out-of-the-box. You need tools to unscrew the metal collar on the original stem (its very tight because its never been off). The new head has a plastic collar molded in whereas the original I’m replacing has a metal collar screwed onto the plunger stem. Would have been helpful to have a note in the box or here on Amazon so people don’t need to figure out how to install it and double-check they ordered the correct model part. I did order the correct part and got model numbers correct per the item description. Its now installed and working

After having our bodum french press for 5+ years the ring in the cross plate gave out. This replacement fit perfectly and now there are no more grinds in our cups!
