Factors to Consider When Selecting Citric Acid Powder for Cleaning Water Distillers

This works well, but I had no choice to pay twice the amount I paid before, for the exact item!

Effective on stains though oxalic acid better.

If I’d known how well this stuff worked, I would have taken before and after pics. I bought it to clean my water distiller. The cleaner that came with the distiller took two rounds at the high end of the recommended mix to come decently clean. I got this on subscribe and save to save on cost, so there wound up being more build up than usual. Except for a single small stubborn spot on the bottom and the tiny bit above where we filled it (which obviously doesn’t count), the distiller legit looks new. We did follow the instructions of the original cleaner with the amount recommended on this one. The original cleaner said to remove the distiller top, add water and the powder, and turn the distiller on and bring to a boil for 30 minutes. I will do my best to remember to get before and after pics next time to update this review with.

I was very surprised with how quickly this worked for removing hard water build up. The material that I have tested this is primarily stainless steel but imagine it would worked on other materials. For example, descaling a tea kettle fill with water, boil to a stop and then sprinkle in a leveled spoon to kettle and wait.
The instructions say leave overnight, but I found it worked no more than fifteen minutes. I guess it depends on how thick the mineral scale buildup is.
The key is to use very hot water and submerging the material and cover to prevent most of the heat loss.
Because you need very little, this jar should last you a while for everyday household appliances.
I recommend this product.

I originally got this for my water distiller. It worked so well that I ended up finding multiple uses for it. It’s cleaned burned on stuff on steel and glass cookware, the stove top, and oven. I even up using it so often that I subscribed to get it delivered regularly.

Wow! Finally found a product that does what it says. Used it to distill toilet tanks in our home that is on well water so a lot of mineral deposits and tanks were smelly. Followed instructions and voila the tanks were clear and no smell! And we’ve lived here 13 years and this is the first time cleaning the tanks.

The small sample that arrived with the water distiller I purchased had likely gotten damp somehow and was very frustrating trying to chip at it to get the recommended amount. This larger container came wrapped in plastic and the powder is free-flowing and much easier to use and very effective at cleaning.

I clean my distiller once a week as I have well water. This works great

Took the scale right off <3

Scrubbing did not help. But an internet review suggested a citrus product for descaling a distiller. In 12 hours it looked the distiller had NEVER been used!! Didn’t even have to post scrub. AND no odor whatsoever!

This is probably the only substance capable of removing the stains left on steel when boiling hard, contaminated tap water: Calcium, magnesium, fluoride salts, mercury, bacteria, toxins – BTW that’s the kind of tap water we have in Miami.
