Introduction
Are you looking for a traditional Turkish manual coffee grinder that not only serves its purpose but also adds aesthetic appeal to your kitchen decor? Look no further! This buying guide will help you select the perfect brass coffee grinder that meets your needs.
Key Features to Consider
1. Grinder Functionality
When choosing a traditional Turkish manual coffee grinder, consider its versatility. Opt for a grinder that not only allows you to grind coffee seeds but also black pepper seeds. This ensures you can use the grinder for various purposes, enhancing its value for money.
2. Qualification Adjustment
Look for a grinder with a finetuning screw that allows you to adjust the qualification of the ground coffee. This feature lets you customize the coarseness or fineness of the coffee according to your personal preference and brewing method.
3. Portability
If you love camping, hiking, backpacking, or simply enjoy traveling, a portable and compact coffee grinder is essential. Ensure the grinder does not require batteries, power, or plastic cords to operate. This freedom allows you to enjoy freshly roasted ground coffee beans wherever you go.
4. Handle Foldability
Convenience matters, so choose a coffee grinder with a foldable handle that can be easily stored inside itself. This feature makes it easy to pack and carry the grinder without taking up much space or risk damaging the handle during storage or transportation.

It’s very nice looking. However the top handle is so wobbly that I had to use a brass craft wire to reinforce it. Definitely needs a nut to keep it in place! Also I can’t get it come apart so I cannot use it. I’ve had my husband try as well and it doesn’t budge. Maybe mine was defective. I really wanted to love it

This was supposed to be a traditional Turkish coffee grinder, but when we rexceived it, there was no mention of the place of origin, nor instructions for use. You woudl think for this price, it woudl have at least come with instructions. Anyway, then we found that a little piece of metal was in fact still stuck in the grinder so it was not working, well that fell out after we closely examined why it did not work, and so far yes it is grinding well…but very disapointed with the workmanship overall for the price, and misleading advertising!

I paid £38 for this, delivery included, in September 2022. Three days from Ankara, via FedEx. Priced for the Western European market, no doubt, but I’m very happy with the price I paid and service I received from BinbirTrend06.
Solidly built and smart-looking. The screw in the side seems to be a feature of this type of grinder and serves to hold the mechanism in place and also provides purchase when turning the handle.
On receipt, I tightened the burrs down and then loosened them sufficiently that I felt the burrs were not touching. I haven’t needed to adjust them since. (Edit: after 11 months the grind adjustment screw worked loose and dropped out. The threaded portion is less than an inch long. I have now screwed it all the way in, hand-tight, with little difference in the quality of the grind – perhaps a little finer). There was some ‘catch’ to begin with but this disappeared as the burrs were seasoned in use. The bean holder takes 20g of beans comfortably. If you happen to have an Aeropress funnel, this is the same diameter and is helpful when adding beans. I did some timings and found it took about 7 minutes to grind 20g. If you have a doesn’t-do-Turkish grinder you can pregrind to the consistency of instant coffee granules (not too fine) to take a couple of minutes off. Grinding can be done with the cap on or off if you want to check on progress, as it can seem endless to begin with. There is some retention of grounds in the burrs but it’s easy to knock these out into a container using the protruding spindle at the bottom. Hold the knob of the handle with some kind of low friction material to make grinding more comfortable. Remove the handle and turn the spindle by hand to check that grinding has been completed. There is a brassy smell given off when the grinder is held but it’s not strong. It does transfer to the hands but once again it’s not strong and easily rinsed off.
I’ve used this daily for six months and I’m very happy with it. The two currently available reviews from the US are just worthless so I wanted to post this to redress the balance. At the time of purchase, I was new to Turkish coffee and I searched the web and Amazon in vain for reliable info on an affordable, effective grinder for Turkish coffee, having paid for three or four undrinkable packets of ground coffee from this site. One final search of Amazon and this popped up so I took a chance and I have no regrets.
If you want good instruction on making Turkish coffee, I recommend the videos on YT by The Wired Gourmet and European Coffee Trip. A tip I haven’t seen elsewhere: if you don’t like the siltiness of the foam in your cup, give it a gentle but thorough tickle with the tip of a spoon or the tines of a fork (takes less than a minute). This dislodges most of the grounds but leaves a layer of foam, if that is important to you.

Not good , it will grind fine coffee. Can not make coarse any thing. Chef says you can get better

It’s so beautiful!

I will admit that I purchased these grinders for aesthetics. I love how they can have a tarnish look to them or you can buff/shine them.. I am happy with the price point and overall look.
