I have never made my own iced coffee and have always bought it, but no more. This did not come with instructions and I went back to the writeup and video to see how to use, which was somewhat helpful. I played with the amount of coffee to use and finally got it right for my preference. 6-7 scoops with the 32oz container. The metal filter is sturdy and I had no coffee grounds the next day. It was very easy to wash. The cover fits tight and the handle was sturdy and comfortable. The 32 oz is a good size for one person, but may be small for 2 or more. Overall very pleased with this product.

This would be such a great cold brew if the lid would lock I don’t know if I got a defective lid but you can only screw it on one 3/4 of a turn and then the lid to the pouring spout has several nicks in it, and will not lock into place so it’s easily spillable. I might just get a different Lid for this and hope it works on his because it’s really cute in the Stainless Steel strainer in the middle is nice

Bought this for my husband as a gift to try making cold brew coffee. He really liked the design with the pour spot and the capacity. It was 32 ounces and it was really 32 ounces. Some other cold brew coffee makers say they are 32 ounces and don’t leave room to fill the jar with 32 ounces of water before it overflows. This jar has the space.
It is easy to use and the label that says coffee on the front he loves. It’s really clear what is in the jar.

I was so excited to get my tea jar. However, on arrival, there was a large area of crack in the glass jar. I’m sending back for replacement of the entire product. I packed up everything that was in the box. When I got it so I hope I get the same thing back. Hopefully without any cracks in the jar.

This cold brew coffee maker came with no instructions on how to make cold brew coffee. Tried a method I found online and it worked well. The problem with this coffee maker is that it is too small. After you fill the filter with coffee grinds and insert it into the pot, you can only use about 24 oz of water, so you cannot get a full jar of coffee. The filter did clean up nicely and the coffee did come out well, l but for the bother it takes to measure, leave to brew and then clean up, the small amount of brew that you get is not worth the bother. Get the larger 64 oz one- you will be better off. Or just use the jar to make sun tea.

No, you are not mistaken, the Slow Slog 32oz Cold Brew Coffee Maker is a mason jar with a pitcher top. It is the same as other 32oz mason jars with a pitcher top listed on this e-commerce website. This variant come with a stainless steel filter cone. My go to cold brew maker was a French Press. It was a pain to put in the refrigerator because leaving the screen in place means there are few tall spots that’ll fit it. I have also used a portable cold brew coffee maker only holds 650 ml (22.8 oz) or so with the filter and coffee installed. In theory, this can hold 32oz (just shy of 950ml) of liquid goodness. In reality, with the metal filter filled with coffee grounds, it is going to be less than that.
The filter can hold up to about 90 grams of coffee grounds. Less if using dark roast coffee beans. The darker the roast, the lighter the bean. The lighter the bean, the more beans per gram and more space is taken up in the filter. There are no instructions included, but my cold brew recipe calls for a coarse grind (French Press or Percolate size) of 2x the coffee beans used for drip/pour over coffee. Steep in water and leave in refrigerator for 24 hours. Then add a 1 to 1 ratio of water to the resulting coffee concentrate. I usually use 60 grams of coffee per liter of water for pour over. You will want to adjust that ratio for your coffees.
With the filter and coffee in place, I can pour in up to 800ml (27oz) of water. With darker roasted coffee, 700-750ml (23.6-25.3oz) of water is more typical. Keep in mind the coffee concentrate yield is going to be around 100ml less. Using the 1:1 ratio of water to coffee concentrate, this can yield 7-8 6oz cups of coffee. As a final optional step, filter the concentrate using a paper coffee filter to remove the fines that may have made it past the metal filter.
This cold brew coffee maker is fine for making small batches of cold brew. If you have a household of coffee drinkers and want to make a week’s worth, you are going to need more than one of these or a larger contraption. Be aware that the plastic lid/spout is a bit flexible and the thread count is low on the jars of this type. As for the pipe cleaner, um, brush, I put it aside and use a water bottle cleaner brush on the jar along with a larger diameter soft bristle brush on the filter.
