Great pot for one person, I have one big cup of coffee so I customize the amounts of coffee and water. It’s basic but has auto shut off and a reusable basket! Love my pot!

This is the second one I’ve bought of these small, programmable Mr.Coffee machines, and I’m quite happy! The last was a very different design and this one very much improves upon the old design flaws. I don’t drink enough coffee to have a big 12 cup, not to mention the price is significantly higher for the full size version of the programmable models. I can never get the right amount of water and coffee ground ratio when trying to make less than a full pot with those bigger ones, HATED the “name brand” single serve coffee “pod” machine, so I switched to this little guy here. The first (er, last?) I bought spring 2020 and served me well until I accidentally left a basket of grounds in it and it went moldy while I was in hospital for four days at the outset of 2023. I tried to clean it with vinegar, even full strength, but unfortunately the mold infiltrated the water line from the reservoir to the “drip,” so with no way to get a straw brush into it to clean it, I had to order a new one. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this still came with the reusable filter which helps in making nice, strong coffee, and that the MSRP hadn’t gone up too much since inflation hit the market hard over the last few years. This one happened to come with a charcoal “water filter,” and that was the only negative about this. The filter doesn’t seem to be replaceable since I could only find the size for the 12 cup models, not the mini size needed for this little 5cup model, and the very first time I used the coffee maker, the filter caused the reusable filter to overflow with grounds ending up in my pot, AND the filter fell apart with the paper discs that held the charcoal in place pulling out of their slot in the filter ring. Other than that, this will always be my go-to coffee maker for everyday use! Thank you Mr. Coffee!

My husband bought this as a replacement for a larger Mr. Coffee that sprung a leak after years of service. This is the size he wanted — just 6-cup capacity — but I was surprised at how small it looks on the counter. The only drawback is that it takes junior-size coffee filters, which are hard to find and much more expensive than the standard size for an 8-12 cup machine. We don’t use a reusable filter basket because of our septic situation, but that is definitely the way to go in terms of keeping filters affordable. My husband just cuts the larger ones down. This is a great space-saving maker for a morning coffee drinker who wants a basic machine and more counter space.

La marca Mr. Coffee es garantía. Me encanta levantarme en la mañana y percibir el aroma de café recién hecho. La cafetera es práctica y fácil de programar. Este modelo me gustó mucho. Es la segunda cafetera programable que compro.

The first thing I noticed was how narrow the basket is. It’s almost too narrow for the standard 4-cup paper filters. So the water level in the coffee grounds while brewing is deeper than my old 5 cup coffee maker (different brand) and this tends to make the saturated coffee grounds ride up high on the sides of the filter. If you put more than 2 or 3 tablespoons of coffee into the basket the coffee grounds will spill over into the pot. I like my coffee on the stronger side so I can only make 2 or 3 cups with this coffee maker.
The second thing I noticed is the coffee tends to be slightly bitter compared to my old coffee maker. I think the water stays in the basket longer due to the deep and narrow filter basket. I’ve read longer contact time of the hot water with the grounds can make coffee more bitter. Also, the spray head is only 1 inch wide, so the water hits the center of the grounds rather than being more distributed.
Overall it’s a nice little coffee maker but it may not be best for those who like a stronger cup. I went back to my old coffee maker. I doesn’t look as nice in my kitchen but it makes better coffee for my style of coffee.
Happy shopper –
Love it. It is smaller than I thought but it’s all good since I’m the only one who drinks coffee. Replaced my single serve Keurig machine for this since K-cups have gone up in price and I can no longer afford them now that I’m retired and on a limited income. I also like that I can program it and wake up to fresh brewed cup of coffee. Well worth the buy for single coffee drinkers.

Got this to replace the Black & Decker which replaced my original Mr. Coffee 4-cupper when the glass carafe cracked. The Black & Decker stopped working all of a sudden – I was trying to clean it and the toggling power button fell out. I couldn’t figure out how to fix it, so I was looking for a simple “double-action” push-button power switch, and found this model.
Has been working pretty well. It came with a re-usable filter basket (haven’t used it because I prefer using paper filters to avoid the hassle of cleaning the coffee stain) and a water filter (don’t need the extra gimmick since I already have counter-top water filters).
A few minor “odd” details: the water level of the reservoir is not readily discernible, have to use the glass carafe with the “cup” markings to fill water; the “drain hole” of the filter holder is off-centered because the carafe is wider (compared to my original Mr. Coffee); and the standard size paper filters are a tad too large for the filter holder so I have to make sure it is seated snugly – it was making a mess regularly before I realized what was happening – the paper filter was riding high but the weight of the coffee granules was not enough to push the filter down, so when the hot water starts dripping, the paper filter “collapsed” and the coffee grounds got around and over the paper filter, and into my coffee!
Would have preferred my original Mr. Coffee, but the cost of the replacement glass carafe is almost as much as the entire coffee maker.
