After using this consistently for a few weeks, I noticed a few aspects of this grinder that it not a useful addition to my kitchen:
      1. The grinds that come out are almost as inconsistent as my spinning-blade grinder. There are five coarsesnesses you can set the burr to, but all of them let through relatively large pieces.
      2. It’s pretty loud. Not as loud as a grinder that plugs straight into a wall, but louder than a hand-crank grinder.
      3. It vibrates as it’s grinding and once almost fell off my counter – which would be bad because it’s glass.
      4. It’s really slow. Slower than a hand-crank grinder. Like maybe 3-4 minutes for one pourover’s worth of coffee beans.
      5. For some reason it doesn’t like to run while it’s charging. Leave it charge fully and then unplug it to use it. Then plug it back it in to re-charge when you’re done.

The best use-case I can see for this machine is:
1.) You want ground coffee that’s at least someone more consistent than spinning blades, but don’t mind if it’s not as perfect as a tabletop bur grinder.
AND 2.) You would use a hand grinder for the price, size, or portability but you have mobility issues with hand-operated devices.

It’s a bit pricey but does a good job. I am no expert since I just recently switched from blade grinder but this definitely results in more consistent grind I think. It’s a little noisy (as are most grinders I”m sure) but since it’s so portable, I just take it into a room at far end of the house so as not to wake up those still asleep when I’m making my morning coffee. I love the glass (less plastic is better). Charges easily. Fairly easy to use after reading instructions. Easy to change grind settings although I only make pourover and french press so I keep it in the middle. I can’t speak to longevity since I’ve only had it a few weeks but so far so good. (IT made me very nervous to buy something that had no reviews at the time but it seemed to have what I was looking for in a grinder so I took a risk).

This is a good grinder. I use it to make filter coffee, it provides a good consistent grind size and it’s easy to use. Here’s some thoughts and details about the grinder, in case it helps your search:

      – I can grind up to about 40 grams at once before the grinder’s too crowded.
      – There are some retention issues, after the grind’s done I typically turn it back on for 5 seconds or so while gently moving it around to see if there are additional beans to grind.
      – I can hear the noise in the next room when the door is closed. It doesn’t bother me but it’s not the quietest grinder.
      – Some other reviews mention the lip on the glass jar as a negative. I see the point, but the lip hasn’t bothered me, it’s easy to get the coffee out into the pour over.
      – I wish there was a way to charge it with the lid on. The grinder’s just more aesthetically pleasing when the outer lid is on.
      – Unfortunately you can’t charge it and grind coffee at the same time.

Overall I enjoyed using this grinder and it produces pretty decent results. Basically its designed like a hand grinder but with the top that houses a motor instead of a hand crank lever. Its easily rechargeable that makes it quite convenient.

I decided to unfortunately return the item as it did not meet my expectation. I think a few design changes would make this a 5-star item worth the sub-$80 price point.

      PROS
      – Produces rather decent grind
      – I was able to pull a decently tasty shot of espresso
      – Rechargeable
      – Glass canister (this was a great plus, no plastic, easy to clean)

      CONS
      – The two burrs were slightly mis-aligned axially, i.e. off center. This means There would be super fine and not so fine grind. Maybe this was just my unit. Nonetheless, the end result of espresso for me wasn’t bad.
      – The biggest issue I have is that there is a lip on the glass canister. No matter what you do, you cannot easily have the ground coffee slide out. I have to tap, invert, use a spoon or something. This was a deal breaker for me.
      – I wish the charging connector was a simple micro-USB and not a magnetic two point special connector. Maybe this was done for making it water resistant, but I am not sure. This means you have to remember to carry and keep track of that short special charging cable.

I think this product is 80% there and overall has some really well thought out design decision. I would look into buying a v2 of this. It will be great addition to my Flair Espresso for a camping trip barista quality coffee 🙂

So far I like it a lot. The grind is consistent and as advertised it is very quiet if you put the shroud back on while it works and avoid setting it on a hard surface. I put it on a towel or oven mat and it just purrs along. Only my manual grinder is quieter.

For my lightweight portable lifestyle this is very good.

      Three small cons:
The battery needs charging frequently. I don’t see a way to work around this given the size and the kind of job it does. Would be grand if there was a convenient way to leave it on the charger while it worked.

The charger itself is not great. Proprietary magnetic attachment USB cable. I am going to lose that thing in a week probably. I’d much prefer a charging puck induction system. Like a Qi charger for the phones.

Can’t turn it on and off with the handsome sound-baffling shroud in place.

So if I could wave a wand I’d make a base for this thing that had an induction plate to keep it charged in normal daily use, and a cable you could take with you if you go car camping or whatnot.

But again so far I am a happy camper and well pleased with the purchase.
