I love this grinder, coming from using a Baratza Encore, this is a huge improvement. More silent, faster, and consistent. My only complain is how messy it is but it’s easily fixed with the water drop hack.

I’ve been on my espresso journey for about 2 years now. I’ve graduated from a Hario Skerton and a De-Longhi EC155M to a Kinu M47 and a Breville Dual Boiler. Moving from the Kinu M47 to the DF64 has been a great move. Rather than hand grinding my beans in the morning (a process that was taking about 15 minutes for 2 x 15 gram doses, now it takes about 5 minutes. The grind retention has been less than .1 grams for me so far.

I’m not using any mods on this. If anything I may replace the bur set at some point but the stock burs are working great for me now.

A few things I will note that I don’t like are regarding the power button. Both the placement and the housing are odd to me. The power button is directly under the chute so you have to reach around or under whatever you’re grinding into. The power button would have been much better off on the side of the unit. Also, the housing comes up around the button and it’s almost sharp so pushing the button in you’ll feel the housing scraping against your finger. If the button protruded or, better yet was a toggle it would be a better experience. I think both of these issues can be changed but they are not high on my list of things to do.

As is I’m quite happy with the grinder overall.

Highly recommend this grinder.popcorning was fixed with a new shield. Way less static with the new plasma generator. Button placement is improved. Biggest complaint is that the grind adjustment ring takes some effort to move around and seems a little inconsistent.

The Turin DF64 is an overall great grinder for its price. At this price, something like the Eureka specialita is what you can get for spending 400-500 dollars on a grinder, but at the cost of a small burr size. This does not mean this is not build well or uses cheap materials. Surprisingly, there is more metal than I expected.

My few complaints are that the range of espresso grinder settings is quite small, the clumper design retains lots of coffee grinds, so further mods may be needed for some folks, and the dial for the grind setting can be confusing to use. You may also have to align your burr set.

Overall, it is a great coffee grinder with a few problems, but at this price, the DF64 is hard to beat.

Compared to my previous grinder (a Bodum Bistro) this thing is a tank! My old grinder weighs maybe 1.5lb, and this thing is closer to 15. It feels like a real machine tool compared to all my other kitchen appliances. I decided to upgrade because, while the old Bistro was actually quite capable for everything from French press down to Aeropress, it struggles to grind for espresso as it’s just not quite rigid enough. The DF-64 has no such problem.

First run, I set the grind dial to 10 and loaded my usual 16g dose of a dark roast into the portafilter. This was a mistake: my espresso machine pumped up to 15bar and just stalled, no liquid out at all! Reset with the grind around 20 and tried again–this time got liquid out but it still ran slow at 12bar. After dialing in, I find dark roasts run well around 23-25 on mine, and lighter roasts I’ve tried so far I might go down around 18-20. The adjustment dial is stepless, and it’s large enough that if you know your grind setting for each coffee, switching back and forth between settings for different beans is definitely possible. Retention seems very low, especially if you use the bellows to puff air through the burrs before shutting off.

Overall I’m very happy, and enjoying very consistent high quality espresso every time. The cost delayed my decision to purchase for a long time, but so far I’m quite pleased, and honestly for the sheer weight of metal in this thing I now understand why it’s so expensive.

The product came in secure packaging. Upon inspection, there were no damage to the merchandise as it is enveloped in foam inside of the box. It also arrived quickly. Extra points for ordering this because it came with a sturdy dial too! Extra EXTRA points because it came in already calibrated. I’ve used hand grinders long enough to know when the burrs are touching and as I rotated the stem on top while the dial was at “0” on the DF64, I could hear the burrs touching and could feel the tightness.

    As for performance:
-Towards the end of grinding my beans, there were plenty of static and as you can conclude, there was a medium-of-a-mess, which I would recommend you clean up with a brush (makeup brush will do)—- or you can just HOLD the cup closer… whichever works.

-The grind settings have suggested ranges for whatever brewing method you use. I mainly pull espresso so I left the dial on 15 and it pulled a pretty good shot from my beans in about 25 seconds. (See picture)

-The declumper is a “silicone” one. I ordered a separate declumper mod and am waiting for it to arrive by end of month, so I’m hoping this will help me lessen the retention and mess I anticipate for days to come (as stock).

Conclusion: So far so good! It’s not as loud as I thought (it wouldn’t wake up my nieces and nephews who are babies) and it’s beneficial for smooth operation in making shots (sure beats me manually grinding every day). GREAT value all in all.

Unaligned mess, chirping sounds, clogged chute, static and unbelievable retention. Be prepared to spend time to try and almost fix these issues.

Just get something better than this grinder. Not worth the troubles.

After 6 months the grinder is un-useable, after cleaning and trying to get a better alignement the collar is now stuck and I cannot remove it or adjust the grind size.

The grinder would not grind (it would run). The Mfg contacted me and tried to help get unit going but it still did not work. They took the unit back for refund. While I was disappointed with the unit not running correctly, the mfg was easy to work with and communicative.
