I had an issue with my first unit. Customer service helped me out and I got a second. Kingrinder is a reputable brand and I think the issue I had was an anomaly. The grinder is excellent. I have been using it daily now for espresso, which I pull around 6-8 shots a day for my wife and me. It’s very easy to dial in. My wife’s current coffee is a lot more dry than the oily beans I’ve been using and hers produces more fines. 3 clicks coarser than mine and it’s perfectly ground. I’ve, on 2 occasions used it for pour over. While the k6 is supposed to be better for pour over, it’s far more rare for me to do a pour over, and the k4 is completely capable of a good and even grind for pour over. It can hold a decent amount of beans, and is relatively light weight despite its larger size compared to what I used to use. It’s also very easy to clean. The included brush is a nice touch for many purposes. I’m very likely to buy the k6 as well, though it isn’t strictly “necessary” since the k4 is excellent and serves me well

This is a solid piece of machinery. The burr grinds fine for espresso. The wood handle and rubber strip is comfortable to grip. There is nearly no retention of grinds when i dump into a filter.
I am not a fan of external adjustment. I find myself changing a couple notches if i hold it too close while I’m grinding. I wonder why they chose a design that requires spare parts. The grinder as a whole is engineered to last for forever, but this clip is bound to get lost after a couple years.

I bought this as my first espresso grinder so take my review with a grain of salt. It feels very solidly built, easy to clean with the included brush, and I like the ability to use it with a drill (however it takes about the same amount of time to do it by hand…)

The grind setting seems very versatile and I’ve used it for espresso and cold brew so far.

I was searching for an affordable electric grinder that would work for espresso. Espresso needs to be ground finer and therefore most electric grinders are inadequate. Burrs need to be finer and the motor needs to have a higher torque. Most decent espresso grinders start @ 200 dollars. I secured a K4 for 88 bux well below my 100 budget.

Several folks recommended various grinders, that were well outside my budget but they also recommended this one, which is made in Taiwan. I was reluctant at first but I’m quite happy with it. Hand grinding can be a bit of a chore when yer half awake but this one works quite well. Espresso roast beans are much easier than medium roast, I’ll say that. The drier the bean, the easier it can be ground.

The K4 has a better burr grinder set, similar to more expensive models and a fine adjustment that is easy to track with the hand dial. Also, it has a solid aluminum body. Rubber grip doesn’t move but don’t try to grind with wet hands.

The lid attaches for hand use or you can opt to attach a cordless drill with the lid loose. I’ve used it for several months and the only issue is some static electricity causing the grinds to stick to underside. This is easily remedied by spritzing with water or stirring your beans with a damp teaspoon. A highly recommended grinder, this is the best value out there.

Updated 7/25/23: Apparently, the first grinder I received was defective. That’s why it came apart when I turned it. Also, it was missing the lid (didn’t fully realize this until I got my new one). My new one is great! I have another manual grinder that I’ve had for about 10 years, but I stopped using it because it took so long to grind beans. The K4 makes short work of the beans. It takes me about 30-40 seconds in the morning to grind beans for my pour over.

I still stand by my comments about the instructions, though. They’re not clear. Because of that and the quality control issue (as manifested by my experience), I took off a star.

    ************

I was really looking forward to getting this grinder to use with my new Flair. I didn’t even get to use it once, though. First, the English instructions are ridiculously unclear—not even in good English.
So I went to YouTube to watch a Kingrinder Vid. According to that video (and what I could discern from the written instructions), you’re supposed to turn the top of the grinder clockwise twice until it hits 0 on the second turn. Well, mine didn’t stop at zero, so I assumed I needed to keep going. The top the grinder came off, though! Then, I heard some jiggling and when I investigated, the entire assembly had come apart.

It should not be that easy for the entire thing to come apart. I’m not an idiot. I’ve put things together before, but having never used a manual grinder of this type, the instructions could be clearer. How disappointing!

I’ve been having a blast dialing in various beans on my espresso machine with the K4 and a coffee scale/timer. Between the nice fine click adjustments to get in the range and then adjusting dosages by a few 10ths of a gram, I’ve been able to nail some tasty espressos out of my inexpensive home machine.
I had previously been working with a cheap electric burr grinder that I shimmed up to get a finer grind, but this K4 allows for way more adjustability and consistency and is magnitudes quieter. The quality seems very good and it operates smoothly. I’ve been grinding for espresso – around 65 clicks-( ADDENDUM- I descaled my espresso machine since then and now need to grind around 45-60 ) and light roasts are very difficult to crank through, but medium and dark roasts are easy and enjoyable to grind by hand.
    ADDENDUM-
I’ve been using a 19.2v drill for the difficult light espresso grinds and it makes the job quick and easy. I think the light beans might be easier to crank at a coarser setting, but I haven’t tried yet. I’ll try to hand grind for french press next time I get some light beans and I’ll update this review.
    ADDENDUM
It grinds light roasts fairly easily at 80 clicks for Aeropress and moka pot. It helps to hold the grinder diagnally sideways so you can control how rapidly the beans enter the burr. The diagonal method takes a little longer but is much easier to crank.
    Have fun!
