How to Select Kicking Horse Coffee
Step 1: Consider Your Taste Preference
Dark roast coffee is known for its intense and bold flavors. If you enjoy strong and rich flavors, Kicking Horse Coffee’s dark roast is a great choice. However, if you prefer milder flavors, you may want to consider other roast levels.
Step 2: Decide on Whole Bean vs Ground
Kicking Horse Coffee is available in whole bean form, which allows you to grind the coffee right before brewing. This ensures freshness and a more flavorful cup of coffee. If you don’t own a grinder or prefer the convenience, you can opt for pre-ground coffee.
Step 3: Check the Certifications
If you prioritize organic and fairtrade products, Kicking Horse Coffee is certified organic and fairtrade. Additionally, it is also kosher-certified. These certifications assure you of the coffee’s quality and ethical sourcing.
Step 4: Consider the Decaffeination Process
If you are looking for decaf coffee, Kicking Horse Coffee uses the Swiss Water Process, which is a natural and chemical-free method. This ensures that the decaffeination process maintains the coffee’s flavor without any unwanted chemicals.
Step 5: Read Reviews and Purchase
Before making a final decision, we recommend reading customer reviews to get real-world feedback about the taste and quality of Kicking Horse Coffee. Once you are satisfied, you can proceed to purchase with confidence.
With this buying guide, you have all the information you need to select the perfect Kicking Horse Coffee that suits your taste preferences and values. Enjoy your cup of coffee!

Merry Sherry –
I thought I had a grinder but I don’t so I ordered one today. I’m enjoying my first cup right now.
Jill Johnson –
I love coffee, not for the caffeine because it bothers me but for the taste. This decaf was recommended because of how it’s decaffeinated and it is very good
David Weinberger –
I was at first underwhelmed because I was expecting the assault on my tastebuds provided by Starbuck’s caffeinated Italian Roast…a sensory jump start that I liked until I had to give up caffeine for a few months. But after a day or two, Kicking Horse reset my expectations for what strong, dark coffee can taste like.
Kicking Horse’s flavor isn’t front-loaded the way other good dark coffees are. Its taste is rich and long-lasting. There’s no aftertaste except for the taste of the coffee: it doesn’t leave my mouth sour the way many other coffees do.
Of course, people’s preferences vary. But the fact that it’s produced via the Swiss water process should be a point in its favor for everyone.

Did a lot of research about decaf coffee, this one keeps coming up as the best reviewed on several websites. It is extremely expensive and impossible to get in Australia other than via Amazon. I even wrote an email to the manufacturer, to find out if there was any shop or distributors in Australia, to get it sooner or cheaper. Never received a reply. The coffee itself did not match my expectations in any way, I find it flat, a bit acidic and too dark and bitter. I keep including variations: less strong, more milk, etc. No difference. Won’t be buying it ever again.

I’ve been looking for a good decaf dark roast coffee. I’ve tried many brands and this Kicking Horse whole bean is one of the best so far.
mrj –
In my opinion these are the best decaf beans available. Great flavour.

During pregnancy I have to be pretty much completely off of caffeine to keep my heart happy, so I have tried many different decaf options to maintain my favorite morning routine. This kicking horse brand decaf is very nice, robust, and rich, you would not pick up that it’s in any way different than normal coffee while drinking it. Doesn’t affect my heart at all either so I’m pretty confident it’s truly decaf, I know another reviewer has that concern. For reference I use a pour over coffee maker and grind beans fresh for each cup. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this.

First of all i didn’t expect this to be as good as Kicking Horse 454. Second i always found any decaf coffee to taste hollow, like the heart of it was ripped out so to speak. I am very impressed with this whole bean decaf and i never thought i would look forward to a cup of decaf coffee but the day finally arrived. I still don’t like this as much as 454 but it’s the best option when you want to kick the caffeine habit. Out of 10 on the decaf scale i give this a 10 because it’s the best decaf i have had so far.

I adore coffee, but the caffeine is finally getting to me. I have been horrified at even the existence of decaf for all of my coffee-drinking life (what is the purpose?), but now I know. I still love coffee, but it doesn’t love me. And – I love a dark roast. After a lot of wasted money (there are a couple I can handle with enough creamer), I found Kicking Horse. I’m in love. Finally a decaf I can drink black without gagging! Love it!

Great product, delivery on time

I’m in it for the taste, but I wouldn’t have known that without the excellent, deep, rich flavor of these Kicking Horse coffee beans. I didn’t think I could ever decaffeinate, but like many here, it started getting to my nervous system. Now, I enjoy espresso and latte like I never have before: no jitters, no heart bumps, and way, way less acid on the stomach. All flavor, and no side-effects. It’s like I never really tasted the beans themselves until now. Can’t say enough about this product. We use an Amish hand-crank burr grinder and a relatively inexpensive 20-bar espresso machine, and no coffee shops anymore – the whole set-up has already paid for itself in under a month. Go ahead and decaffeinate. You won’t regret it as long as these Kicking Horse beans are around. Good product, folks. Well done. You’ve liberated us from everything “bad” about coffee and left nothing but the good.

Very pleased

I’ve tried a lot of decaf coffee and some are good but this is the best! It has flavor unlike most decaf coffee. I’ve found my coffee now please keep everything the same.
