    毎日、朝手動でミルを引いてました。
    デザインがおしゃれ、時短を兼ねての購入です。粉が均一で、コーヒーも美味しくなりました。粉は飛び散りますが、仕方ないかなと思ってます。

the bodum coffee grinder came dirty with grounds , and with the interior guard in the cone broken completely off of the cone. we tried to grind some beans just to hear the noise level of the grinder and it sounds great. the small on switch button stuck and wouldn’t come out without prying it back out . sadly we have to return this grinder . hoping for better luck next time !

    Update (07/08/2014)
I have been using this grinder everyday for two years and it hasn’t missed a beat. I am careful not to over-run it by waiting between grinding after 20 second-runs. It takes time to pull espresso, so this isn’t much of a problem. I highly recommend this grinder if you can buy it for less than $100.

    *************ORIGINAL REVIEW****************

BACKGROUND:(you can skip to pros and cons if you’d like)
I’ve only been drinking coffee for the last 7 years or so, but being in Seattle, I’ve come to appreciate truly great coffees. Starbucks isn’t too bad, it’s not one of the better ones around here.

Wanting to enjoy good cup of coffee anytime at home, I began the search for the tools. I didn’t want to go all they way and spend couple of grand to make espresso, nor even couple of hundreds of dollars. I couldn’t afford them and my wife would never approve of it anyhow. So, I’ve tried drip coffee, french-press, Aero-press, but settled on

Bialetti 6800 Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker

for making a good cup of coffee. Meanwhile, I’ve also tried out some of the best rated coffee and settled upon

Jammin’ Java Coffee Kingston City Roast, Espresso, Organic Gourmet Whole Bean Coffee. Medium Dark, Choco-nut & Creamy, 2.2-Pound

    .

I’ve been grinding my beans with

    Capresso Coffee Burr Grinder

which I had bought from local costco, but wasn’t satisfied with the ground consistency nor the mess it created with the static it seemed to bring. With the great reviews and the container being glass, I decided to try this. Now, this was more expensive than the coffee maker and it was a “big” investment for me, but after using it for a month, it’s worth every penny and then some.

    PROS:
    1. Grind – Consistency: The grounds are quite consistent, much more so than the Capresso burr grinder. This consistency seem to improve the taste. [A]
    2. Grind – Range: Range of how coarse or fine is quite broad. Though I’m just using one setting, it’s there when I need it. [A-]
    3. Container – Mess: Because it’s make of glass, there seems to be minute amount of static, if any. This makes it so much more pleasurable to use. [A+}
    4. Container: The container has rubber band around it to help with grips and has rubber cover with 3/4 inch hole in the middle. Nice thing about this cover is that just tapping on the cover pretty much releases all the coffee grinds from it and when you open it up none of the coffee grinds go anywhere since there’s no static. [A]
    5. Aesthetic: It’s nice looking and has smaller footprint than I had imagined. [A-]

    CONS:
    1. Time Limit: the max time you can run at once is about 20 seconds. However, if you press it again right away, it will run. I suppose Bodum wants you to give couple of minutes before you run it again to prolong the life of the machine. Some also has mentioned burr may become too hot and thereby destroying the coffee flavors, but I’m not sure about that. As for me, I run it once and start preparing my Moka and when I’m ready to add the coffee, I just run it again to finish it. So it’s no big deal for me. [B]

CONCLUSION: I’ve only been using it for a month, but I could not be happier with the purchase. This has to be the best sub-$100 grinder out there. As for durability, I will update in few months. Another thing I’m happy about is the color. Although my unit is white, it does not seem to get dirty much while looking good on the counter. I would highly recommend buying this grinder if you’re serious about drinking a good cup of coffee.

I’m on day 2 of using this coffee grinder and it’s amazing. It grinds perfectly for what I need on the Fine setting as I got spoiled with my friend’s fancy espresso machine when I visited her in CO. The only downside I’ve experienced is that some of the grinds get caught in the top and when I go to clean they get knocked out and make a little mess. Overall I’m very happy with this!

Seems to produce nice coffee grounds BUT the connection between the plastic bean holder and the upper grinder part is not great, and so coffee grounds are always hopping out of that connection point and getting all over the inside of the unit. I suspect it also has something to do with the loose upper grinder part. It doesn’t sit securely in position. The instructions say to insert it and rotate it counter clockwise but it doesn’t turn very far and you can wiggle it around quite a bit once it’s in position. Otherwise, it works pretty good.

    味は美味しいと思います。ミルで味が変わるのに驚きました。コ―ヒ―を飲む回数が増えました。微粉で味をコントロールしましょう。

I almost didn’t buy this because some reviews said it was messy. I’m not finding that at all. Maybe because we live in New Orleans, capitol of humidity, but it really isn’t static prone. I like that the top of the machine has a guide to tell you how much to grind for your size pot. No digging out the instructions when you change the number of cups you’re making. It’s much quieter than my old Krups. I love that it’s a creamy white color that blends into the white counter top. I’ve found Bodum to be a great company for a modest amount of money.

Even though we were trying the same thing over and over, at first this was not working. Then, all of a sudden, everything clicked in right, and it’s working great now!! Tried it a few times, and it’s grinding just fine! Not too loud, and no grounds shooting out anywhere. I’ll need to learn how to adjust the grinds more, but so far so good.
Previous: The instructions are terrible, with almost no detail, so it’s hard to troubleshoot. Took it out of the box and followed the vague instructions. I cannot get the female part to sit correctly–I think. The silicone surrounding the actual metal burr is soft, so if I force it, I’m worried I’ll break it off. When the female part appears to be seated, it’s not a tight fit, so I don’t know if it will hold. Then, when I try to put the bean container on, it will not turn in either direction. It’s just too tight or something is not seating correctly. The lid is supposed to have a seal but this one does not, so it is loose and only balances on top. There must be a lock that allows grinding when all parts are in position, but I cannot get to that point, so it currently appears that the buttons aren’t working right. I must have gotten a lemon, and based on other reviews, I’m trying to decide if I want to deal with poor customer service or just return it.

This is a fine, but messy burr grinder. I question whether it is worth using everytime I use it. I purchased this grinder approximately six months ago for use with a french press. It grinds the coffee nicely, it is the mess and the clean up I have a problem with. It is so aggravating the way the coffee sticks to the glass and everywhere. I feel like I waste so much coffee as a result. I had no idea about cofee grind static issues before this grinder. Boo!

February 2020: my original review was made in February 2017 and my bodum burr grinder lasted exactly three years before it kicked the can. I used it approximately every two to three weeks. I originally bought the white and this time I chose red simply because it was the least expensive. That was also how I chose the original white one. The red one is clearly not as good quality as the white one from a cosmetic point of view. The silicone looks cheaper, more like dollarama quality. The cord is less long. I know this because I use my grinder in the same spot on the counter and the cord no longer reaches the outlet. I measured and it’s 2.5 inches shorter. I’d like to hope the most important part, the motor, is better quality. We shall see. The clean up due to the substantial static from the ground beans remains aggravating. I really would like the grinder to last longer and feel that should be possible. People keep reviewing that you have to expect that with a less expensive choice like the bodum, you can’t expect consistency and longevity. But why not? It’s not an inexpensive for a small kitchen appliance at all. And I have a lot of appliances that I use just as frequently and they have lasted for over a decade – mini and large food processor, blender, hand mixer. I don’t know what makes a coffee grinder motor so sensitive. I had no issues with the coarse grind I need for my french press so I decided to get the same one and see what happens.

July 2020 update: this bodum keeps breaking down. I have to get my husband to fiddle with the inner parts to get it to resume working. I try not to move it at all so as not to jostle whatever is causing it to stop working. It is so frustrating to have that happen when you’re trying to make coffee in the morning, especially when you’ve already poured the beans in and then have to pour them awkwardly back out to get inside the bodum. This shouldnt be happening with such a new product, full stop. Extremely disappointed with the quality and when this one ultimately breaks and I have to get a new burr grinder, it wont be this one. I would not recommend this product.
