So I grow dent corn and grind it up into meal, grits etc. I had a 5 gallon bucket of dried corn to get through. Did not last the bucket. I took it apart bc it would spin freely. Looking at it the back grinding wheel portion has a raised rectangle that seats in the portion that has a cotter pin in it. I found the hole that was drilled to retain the cotter pin portion was about an 1/8 of an inch above making contact with the lower portion……ie the cottered portion would not spin but it no longer seated in the rectangle. Would turn handle and would not grind no matter how tight you tightened down rear settings. Took it apart, drilled a 3/16 hole through the shaft in the opposite orientation, but lower so the pin held it tight down, engaging rectangle on rear grinding portion. Fixed. I am probably a lot more advanced with fixing things and have the tools where if someone bought this and could not fix it themselves, it would no longer function, so thats not cool at all.

Works better than I had expected. It is basically a foolproof method for grinding a special feed for my chickens that only comes in one form. My chickens are a bantam type of chicken (Seramas) and the food is great for it’s needed nutritional value but only comes as ball style pellets that are too hard for my very small chickens to eat comfortably/safely.
This grinder is easy to adjust in terms of the output size and it’s extremely easy to use. We had been using food processors previously and it was difficult to get an even grind, and just grind it in general. It also burned up one food processor so we decided to go with a more simple, old-fashioned system. There are no worries about burning up a pricier electric appliance.
We were worried this option would be more time-consuming and/or labor intensive but it’s actually easier and faster for our purposes. I love this grinder, I am amazed at how far it’s exceeded my expectations.

If your looking for a cheap grain grinder this is it . It works ok I took the manual handle off and put a bolt in it and turn it with a drill and a socket attachment. The worst thing about it is the grain goes everywhere the only way I’ve found not to make a huge mess and waste product is wrap a grocery bag around it.
