The basic coffee machine is best. Nothing too go wrong. I’ve bought two Mister Coffee machines with timers and both of them didn’t work properly. Forget Mister Coffee this basic Black & Decker works perfectly. Try brewing your coffee and let it stay hot until 1/4 of the coffee has evaporated it gives you an outstanding flavor. Takes several hours but if you like your coffee black you’ll really like it this way. I grind my beans at first just for the fun of it but now for the flavor.

After buying a “gourmet” coffee maker that stopped working the second time I used it and was returned my girlfriend recommended this coffee maker which she has owned for years. It is simple to use with an on/off switch and no other doodads to fail. It brews great coffee and is solidly built. The only issue I have is the lid on the carafe is not removable for cleaning and I worry it might break when washing it as it seems to be the most fragile part of the unit.

I bought this coffeemaker after my larger one decided to stop working. It’s a good size for one person and it’s actually pretty quick at brewing.
The downsides are it is small if you need more than 5 cups and it doesn’t have a feature that stops brewing if you take the carafe off.
Overall, however, it’s a great coffeemaker for the price and for the needs of one person.

The BLACK+DECKER 5-Cup Coffeemaker, Black, DCM600B was ordered to replace a similar Black & Decker 5 cup coffee maker I have. The previous coffee maker carafe was dropped & broke, and I decided to buy this one. The major difference is that the older coffee maker did not a hot plate built-in, and thus could not keep coffee hot after it had been brewed. This is just a basic hot-plate coffee maker that holds 5 cups (6 oz each) of coffee.
We have owned various coffee makers over the years from large 12 cup makers, percolators, Keurig, and other types dependent on the year and type we wanted. This can be said up-front, without any bias whatsoever,….this Black & Decker coffee maker produces better-tasting coffee than any of the other types we have used. Obviously, the type of coffee used can make a difference, but overall we use this make as our everyday coffee maker.
It makes 3 cups (6 oz each) of my wife’s regular coffee quickly, and then it makes my 5 cups of decaf. The coffee pot is small, light, and easy to wash. We use unbleached coffee filters, but smaller wire mesh filters are good too. Both are acceptable.
Another asset to this coffee maker is that it can be used in a travel situation without taking up too much weight or space.
If there is a negative to this coffee maker, then it might be the materials used in the product. The plastic in the coffee maker is much thinner than in the previous Black and Decker. This is just an observation and not necessarily something that reduces the quality of the product.
The other positive about this product is that it is inexpensive at about $26.00.
BOTTOM LINE: I would buy this product again without hesitation. We don’t need a large, bulky, coffee maker for our morning coffee, and this Black & Decker definitely fits our needs. We have been down the road with the much pricier, 1 cup insert makers, the pressurized coffee makers, and others,…and this coffee maker is what we need.

The coffee maker works as it’s supposed to. Brews fine. It’s really hot! But the top hinge was broken. I tried black and decker’s customer support, with no luck. I emailed them and sent a picture the day it arrived, 10 days ago. The website says they will reply within 24 hours. Still nothing. It works, but they should be answering.-
Update-we got a new coffeemaker in the mail today! I’m impressed !!!
