My first Moka Pot and loved the traditional design and material, arrived quickly and packaged well.
My second outing the pot started to leak ever so much from the handle joint… and it isn’t going to get any better.
It’s for the campervan and don’t want to ruin it with coffee everytime I want a hot drink so it’s a shame. Wanted to contact to seller and just advise and see what they suggest but as it’s Amazon no option and only the full returns process. Here’s hoping this is a one off. May just keep it to not faff around with returning it but disappointing non the less.

My favorite way to make coffee, just time consuming. Love the color as well, I got the pink one.

GET ONE.
If you like coffee, you owe it to yourself to explore the finer side of it.
The jump from k cups to grinding and brewing our own coffee has made our mornings, and evenings so much better. We still use kcups sometime when we’re pressed for time, moka pots do take longer than most other ways you could make coffee, but moka pots are about as close as you can get to espresso without buying an espresso machine.
It makes a very strong cup of coffee, be aware of that. If you used an old or bad coffee grind I would call the coffee it makes “mud”.
But with a fresh roasted, fresh ground coffee, it’s strong…and delicious.

As far as the coffee pot goes it works great, as far as the design left it on the stove a bit longer than usual and the flag design faded.

It’s now a staple in the morning routine. It’s never let me down.

Bottom line information: I’ve had this for 6 weeks, used daily, I had one problem with the gasket in-between the vessels that turned out to be a me problem, not a malfunction of the pot. I recommend this to anyone who is willing to keep their pot clean and not in a lazy mad rush to make coffee in the morning.
If you would like to hear details:
I purchased the 3 cup Moka Pot about six weeks ago and have used it nearly every day, sometimes two times a day. Finding the right amount a heat took some trial and error the first couple of days but once I found it I’ve been happy ever since. I have a gas stove with a small burner. Ideally you want to have a burner that does not have a wider circumference than the bottom of your pot.
If you are in a mad rush every morning to make a pot of coffee or spoiled to the automatic brew of your conventional coffee maker this either may not be the process for you or make take some adjustment time. This is a process, I am often in a hurry on the mornings that I work so I grind coffee beans the night before. I do like to boil water in kettle first to get the water hot prior to putting in the bottom vessel as to not burn the coffee and it is done faster anyway. I not have a routine and know that my coffee is going to take about 10 min to brew once I get it on the stove but that is due to the amount of heat that I use. So I multi-task and it works fine but it is recommended that once it goes on the stove you stay close by to watch it, don’t leave it completely unattended!
This moka pot is a little small if I want more than one cup of coffee, so I’ve gotten in the habit of making an iced latte in the morning instead of a hot cup of coffee because it is summer in Texas and its too hot even in the mornings. However, I do plan on getting a bigger moka pot soon. I like strong coffee full of flavor and this moka pot does not disappoint! I’ve found that I am now spoiled to the flavor that this pot brings out. I’ve completely done away with my conventional maker which freed up a ton of space on my counter.
I did a lot of research before purchasing this pot, I am very happy with my choice and plan on buying the same brand of the bigger pot. I also bought a manual coffee bean burr grinder that I love so I can control the size of my grind. For this pot I use a course grind that works great, something really fine would probably fall through the filter.
Clean up is not a big deal to me. Once done I immediately unscrew the pieces and rinse out the top vessel, otherwise the sediment dries in there and makes it harder to clean. I also rinse the underside of the top vessel to clean off the remaining coffee grounds and ensure that there are no grounds under the gasket. It is possible to get the gasket out and clean it all thoroughly but I do not do that every time as I don’t want to wear the gasket out or damage it by removing it often. I was lazy one morning and heard/felt a little crunch when I screwed the two pieces together and decided to make the coffee anyway and discovered that there was a coffee ground under the gasket which caused it to leak when it pressured up on the stove. That is the only time it’s leaked, I just ensure that I cleaned it properly.
By the time I drink my coffee it is cool enough to clean the bottom. Do not use soap! I dump the grounds out and rinse the filter under water, followed by rinsing the bottom vessel. I wipe all pieces down with a power towel as there will be a little coffee residue.
I really do not have any complaints about this pot, it does take a little time and patience to get used to but now it is just my morning routine that is actually almost a therapeutic process. I love the flavor that I get. The coffee to me does not seem as hot as I would get out of a conventional pot so I just heat up my milk and creamer when I want it really hot, and use a frother to get it a little more creamy. So when I make it hot the frother helps in making more of a cappuccino depending on the amount of time I use the frother and how much air is added. I love iced lattes with this as the flavor goes a long way!
I hope this helps someone out there.

Like the design of the handle which is difficult to burn off like the designed to fail and burn plastic handles closer to the body of the machine but when you need replacement gaskets n.b. buy a new plate too as the one on the machine won’t accept the commonly sold silicone ones. O for the rubber of yesteryear!

The Zulay moka pot looked like it would be just what I was after for my coffee making obsession. I like deep, dark flavors. The reviews were great so I ordered. It took a couple of rounds, but I’m thrilled with the results.
Explanation – for whatever reason (could have been operator error) I did not have success getting the brewed coffee to work its way into the upper level. After a few tries, I contacted Zulay customer service and got an almost INSTANT reply and apology from their great rep, Donna. I explained my problem and, no questions asked, a new moka pot was shipped (with no need to send the original back – now I’ve got parts if I needed them) and a new one arrived a few days later. Worked as promised.
Even more gracious – for my troubles, they sent me a 20% promo code (doesn’t expire!) for other purchases at their website. (Like red meat to a kitchen gadget guy like me)
A few tips:
1. I zap the water in a pyrex measuring cup for a couple of minutes before pouring it into the lower chamber. That cuts the time it needs to be on the burner building up pressure. Sounds like a hassle, but truly, in the time it takes to load the grounds into the filter, the water’s ready.
2. The base of the moka pot is pretty darn small – about 3-1/2 inches across and NARROWER than the grate on my stove. Fortunately, I have a small grilling screen (for scorching peppers & heating tortillas) that solved that. Total time on the burner was only about 3 minutes.
3. The serving size on the box says 5.5 ESPRESSO CUPS – not five 8 oz servings. Fine with me. I like to savor the sips.
4. There is some contradictions in the instructions that come with the pot compared to a few of their “training” videos at their website – I don’t recall the specifics. You’ll need to sort it out for yourself. Lots of other moka pot videos on line to sharpen your understanding, but not all apply to the Zulay version.
That’s it. Hooray for Zulay.

Great size for when you only want one or two small cups of coffee
