This is a very good flavoured brew. 2 TBSP per double espresso shot served long with a bit o’ milk. If you are looking for a treat, as it’s a bit pricey for regular drinking, this is one.

This was a pleasant cup of coffee. I had a difficult time really pulling the notes on a French press but enjoyable just the same.

I got the Holler MTN Roast- I saw the other reviews about the enjoy by dates- just wanted to share that my beans didn’t come expired!

RE- the other comments, if you want your coffee as fresh as can be, like roasted within the last 2 months or less – get beans from your local roaster or market, not Amazon. Amazon is limited to the bulk they purchase and have to deliver first in first out- so that fresh roast is not getting delivered until prior roasts go out. Of course if they arrived past the enjoy by date- report it to Amazon so they can replace the bag.

“Dry” beans vs shiny beans.. I prefer dry beans because it doesn’t gunk up the grinder, and the flavor is better! When you see those shiny beans know your coffee was cooked to a point that the moisture (oil) escaped the bean, these oily beans also tend to go bad faster. Yay for a controlled roast and a dry bean! Keeping the oil in the bean until you brew helps attain that smooth flavor.

    Cheers!

Coffee is delicious. Store was out so I thought I would order it. Beware of ordering and the use by date for freshness. When received, only had about 2 weeks left before use by date. Coffee was brewed several months ago. You get fresher beans in store than here.

EDIIT—I tired the Holler blend and much prefer the Mountain Blend! I hVe it on subscribe and save and will be upping the delivery timeline! It’s great?

First, I wish Stumptown would train other companies on how to package (specifically vacuum-seal) coffee beans! I think I’ve ordered a total of at least ten different brands from Amazon over the years and this is the first that’s been packaged well and sealed tightly to keep them fresh! I ordered the Homestead blend. It’s a good stout medium blend; maybe slightly bitter but that’s easy to counter if it’s an issue for you. The reviews I read had me a little concerned at firstly but I’m glad I took the chance on this brand, One review mentioned they can’t taste the flavor profile and while that’s true for the Homestead too, in my experience you don’t always have to in order for it to be good coffee. I play around with my own spice blends in coffee and don’t always taste the exact spice, but it still flavors it differently. I think that’s what this (at least the Homestead blend) is doing. Homestead is a milk chocolate and candy blend, which honestly I don’t think I’d like to taste in my coffee, but the coffee just tastes well-rounded and bold for a medium blend. I also wonder if the chocolate may be where that slight bitter taste I get comes from. Several reviews also mentioned the brew and best used-by dates. Mine was brewed in late June, purchased in August, and best used by October. I purchase whole bean coffee for its freshness and it loses freshness quickly, so to me that’s a good time frame. I usually will go through a bag this size is maybe 2-3 weeks so if I received it as some did within a couple weeks of best used-by date, it would be an issue but I would hope returns would be accepted based on late dates. I’ll definitely be taking a chance and ordering this product again! (And would update review if the use-by date were an issue because I’m a firm believer in holding companies accountable for intentional or unintentional issues in business practices.) Stumptown will be my go-to coffee bean on Amazon as long as they’ve fixed their use-by date issue!

Taste OK, but must have been much better if bag was roasted in the last month to month and a half, here it was roasted in February with a best before of May 27, and my first cup was on May 18.

I am disappointed with the freshness of the coffee… it was roasted in May 2023 and the label it brings says use by Sept 2023… I would rather have a bag of coffee that has not more than a month of been roasted.

I recently had the chance to experience the Stumptown Coffee Roasters’ Founder’s Blend, and I’d like to share my thoughts on this medium roast organic whole bean coffee.

The organic aspect of this coffee is definitely a strong point. It’s great to see a brand taking sustainability seriously and offering an organic option for coffee lovers.

The medium roast level is where I usually find my sweet spot, and the Founder’s Blend delivers on that front. It’s a smooth and balanced cup of coffee that doesn’t overwhelm the taste buds. If you prefer a milder flavor profile, this could be a good choice for you.

However, when it comes to the taste experience, I found myself wanting a bit more depth. While the coffee is enjoyable, it lacks the complexity and boldness I often seek in a cup of coffee. It’s a bit on the safe side in terms of flavor.

In terms of packaging, the 12-ounce bag is a practical size, and it does a decent job of preserving the freshness of the beans. My only gripe here is that I’ve noticed some inconsistency in the freshness of different batches. Some bags seem to lose their vibrancy sooner than expected.

All in all, the Founder’s Blend by Stumptown Coffee Roasters is a respectable option for those who prefer a milder, more balanced coffee experience. It may not be my personal go-to, but it could definitely find a place in the rotation for those seeking a smoother cup of joe.

I was hoping for at least a couple months out. I buy whole bean for the freshness. The coffee itself is delicious.

I honestly never write reviews but these are hands down the best beans for my Breville Espresso machine. They make the best shot every single time. I’ve tried pretty much every color of the Stumpton beans and come back to the yellow Homestead blend. Give them a try you won’t regret it.
