Works amazingly well for weed. Also used it for hard Syrian Rue seeds, which it pulverized easily. I like it for weed because the crystals, being lighter than the bud, float to the top when grinding, and collect on the ceiling of the dome. By the time you’re done, the bud is grinded on the bottom and the crystal is all collected and “stuck” to the top. Not sure if this is by design or not but it’s awesome lol.

Also, after you grind it, the top “dome” part comes off and can be set down, and it acts like a little dish where you can grab your weed out of. It’s almost like they made it for bud… 🤔 who’s to say? It would work perfect for coffee beans too of course, seeing how it had no problem with the Syrian Rue.

the lid fits very tight and is hard to pry off. And if you are grinding sticky herbs , forget it. The lid really sticks. I will end up buying a better one .

Wow. I would have never expected that a $9 coffee grinder would work so well. I absolutely love this little thing! I’m new to the idea of freshly ground coffee, so I wanted to choose a grinder that was inexpensive in case my endeavors failed (aka in case I realized grinding coffee each morning was not something I’m cut out for). What I didn’t expect was that this inexpensive grinder would work so perfectly and easily that it actually makes me want to grind coffee each day!

The grinder comes with a retractable cord that winds back up by rotating the top compartment. This is a huge plus since it takes up the amount of counter space as, say, a coffee mug. It’s really compact. There are no settings on this, just one button that grinds fairly fine coffee. Obviously, you can continue to grind it if you want it more fine, but I would say that it’s not going to get finer than coffee you would use for a drip machine. The compartment holds enough for what equates to about ten cups of brewed coffee.

For cleaning, I just wipe down the inside compartment with a paper towel. Same with the plastic cup part. It seems to get all the grounds, and then I do a more thorough clean at the end of the week. This has worked well for me and saves on cleaning time during weekdays. The grinder has never gotten gross or anything – it always wipes away cleanly. This is definitely worth the $9 investment, but if you’re looking for extremely fine coffee or large-capacity grinders, I would look elsewhere.

There are a few unique features about this grinder that pleasantly surprised me.

First is the retractable cord, which is great in a small kitchen like mine. When I’m done with it, I pull the cord in and put it in the corner of my countertop.

Second is the removable top. To get all the coffee out, you turn it over and tap the grinder on the countertop. All the coffee falls out of the grinder into the top. Then you remove the top, and you’ve got all your coffee.

Third is speed. A lot of grinders have the problem that the big beans float to the top, and you’ve got to grind for a long time to get them to the bottom. But this grinder has an asymmetrical top that you can ACTUALLY SEE pushing the beans down towards the blades. It only takes maybe five seconds to grind all the coffee.

I would say the only downside to this compared to other coffee grinders is the size of the bean-bowl. I usually have to fill it twice with beans to make coffee for three people.

If you really care about your coffee, splurge on a Burr grinder. This isn’t going to give you that perfect consistency. But then again, no bladed grinder will. For what it is, this grinder is quality.

I had this grinder for 10 years before deciding to get another one exactly the same. In both cases, the wires got exposed early on in usage (within WEEKS) because the insulation coating of the electrical wire is super cheap. And there’s no point in having the electrical cord coil inside of the device if by doing so you create a fire hazard. VERY POOR DESIGN.

But I love everything else about this grinder. So, in each case, I’ve replaced the cord myself. I buy a short extension cord at the hardware store for about $3, cut to length, and use small gauge wire nuts to connect the new cord up. After that, you can use this baby FOR DECADES!

If you are not so electrically inclined, move on. This is not the grinder for you.

I bought this in the middle of pandemic in order to grind the coffee. I used it for grinding coffee ,nuts, sugar and it was relatively easy to clean.
However eventually the button that you need to press in order for it to grind simply fell off. And then the experience wasn’t the same ever after. So if you’re looking for grinding up to a year of time this will do but don’t expect much of it

If you want to get a grinder to create flour-like dust, don’t get this one. If you’re just grinding into a coarse consistency, this is fine.

Big problem with this grinder. I use this grinder as a disposable one for grind chemicals before transferring to a mill for grinding. To reduce grind time, I grind to flour-like consistency. However, this leaks where the blade spins, so chemicals get into the grinder, the more you grind.

If you grind long enough, you can literally pour the powder out where the cord is. The worse was the time I tried to grind aluminum since I only needed a small amount of aluminum dust for a project. The aluminum dust got into the blender and the blender RAN WITHOUT PRESSING THE BUTTON. Must have closed the circuit somewhere inside the unit. Had to pour out all the powder to fix the issue.

Do note, this is only for my particular experience. This was not the intended application for this coffee grinder. For what it is, a $10 dollar coffee grinder, its is quite outstanding. It’s a slick unit with a retractable cord. If you only need to grind small amounts, this is perfect. I will continue to use this.

I a!ready have a large burr type grinder for processing relatively large batches of whole bean coffee. So I needed a small machine for occasional grinding of small quantities of herbs and fatty seeds. A rotor type machine is easier to clean than a burr type design. Moreover, the former is available in smaller size models than is the latter.

The Proctor Silex E167CYR has a semi-spherical cap that promotes better circulation of its contents than other similar machines having a cylindrical cap. The cap has a flat rest surface, to stabilize it on a countertop when detached from the machine. Once set down on its flat it cannot roll around and fall to your kitchen floor. Moreover the cap’s shape facilitates easier cleaning too.

    TIP
Do not repeatedly clean any grinder of this type with a water based detergent, as that will eventually cause damage to the machine. Instead, use a cotton ball soaked with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Both are available from CVS drug stores. This alcohol is nontoxic and deemed GRAS by the FDA. Not only does it avoid damage to the machine, this technique removes residues wayyy faster, easier, and more thoroughly than water based methods. Moreover, it evaporates spontaneously, obviating the need to dry the surfaces with paper or cloth. It is marvelous for cleaning away sticky residues of chia seeds or flax seeds.

My beloved dog injured his mouth and was having a hard time chewing his kibble, so I purchased this to make his kibble into powder so I could mix it with water. This grinder made it into uniform tiny granuals. Unfortunately, the machine does overheat, but that’s after using it thrice in a row, so that’s probably my fault. Either way, great purchase and my dog loves it more than I do by the amount of affection he gives now that he can eat 😀

Works fine, I only use mine for coffee beans and I am perfectly content with the way it works. You can really only grind a small amount at a time, but if you’re only making coffee for 1-2 people it is enough!
