I’ll admit I was skeptical about this item, as it seemed like one of those “as seen on TV” gimmicks. Still, I needed a solution to enjoy cold coffee at home and this really did the trick! The folks over on the coffee forum who suggested the Hyper Chiller were right, I’ve got to hand it to them.
I like to make four “shots” of espresso with my pod device. I brew them directly into a vintage spout cup I found in my cupboard and then pour all the coffee into my Hyper Chiller. Now don’t get greedy! It takes a minute or two to reach the desired chilliness, which is still much faster than any other methods. Much faster. Then I can have an iced americano at home that’s almost as good as the stuff I used to get from my local coffee shop. It’s fun to have a morning ritual.

Once I discovered this, I can’t go back. I got my first one as a gift and it changed my ice coffee routine. I think I went over the max line one time and the other plastic did crack. So had to repurchase right away. As long as you fill under the max line, these will last. If you like cold drinks, this is a must!

Let me start this review by saying that I see this product advertised on Facebook and thought I’d give it a ‘punt and the main reason being that I have recently found a new love for iced coffee.
I think anyone reading this in the U.K. Can agree that the price of iced coffee is astronomical! (But damn is it yummy).
Can I secondly mention that the chiller does exactly what it says on the tin and remarkably well!
A few pre-remarks:
My freezer is set to -21 degrees and so it only took a few hours before the product was ready for its first use, though the instructions mention 12 hours.
Upon looking at the chiller, it is very sturdy and very forgiving and no doubt will last for years to come. The black plastic construction makes it look a lot more expensive than it is (confirmed by a friend who was stunned by the price). Internally the product has two stainless steel cups / dividers that separate the ice (that freezes your liquid) to the liquid you use. They are also well built and I can’t see them breaking any time soon.
Now for my little niggle on the product. I’m very happy with every aspect as mentioned about, but the fact is, the compartment that chills the liquid is far to small for a greedy guts like me. I have managed to figure a way around this by making a batch of coffe in a jug, letting it cool for a while and then poring it into the chiller half at a time.
Unfortunately this method makes the use of the chiller slower and wouldn’t be ideal for someone who likes a large drink “to go”.
The important part:
The chiller has to be prepped by filling the compartments with the specified amount of water before hand. This is very easily noted by little notches on the side of the stainless steel cups.
Once frozen you are ready to make your first iced drink.
I was pleasantly surprised to pour a boiling cup of coffe into the chiller and Have an iced coffee ready in what I’d call a realistic 2-3minutes. The instructions give you guidelines on how long it takes but lets be honest, it’s like buying a car and the manufacture lies about the Emissions … cough cough Volkswagen cough cough…
I found that gently swirling the chiller 100% sped the cooling process up (as guidelined in the instructions) and would recommend doing this if you are impatient like me.
Once the process had completed, the ice felt like it has melted slightly in the compartments. Due to this I doubt it would chill another boiling batch straight away. (That’s why I wait a little while for the coffe to cool when I make 2 batches)
Emptying the iced beverage from the chiller worked really well with no “dribble” or mess, rather it shot out of the pouring spout and went straight into the cup.
Cleaning the chiller is an absolute breeze … (don’t worry my jokes don’t get much better) as it’s large enough to fit a cleaning cloth into and it can also be put in a dishwasher.
Refilling it again for the next use is easy as 1.2.3.
As a side note you don’t have to clean it every time after use but if your a clean freak then clean as required.
I hope this helps someone who is on the tipping point of wether or not to purchase this.
If I haven’t already mentioned I only gave 4* as I’m a little upset on how much this can cool at any one time.
Thanks
H

I love this thing, we own two so my husband and I can both have iced coffee in the morning. Aso would be good for making alcoholic drinks to chill them!

Absolutelyove this product! I love ice coffee all year round and some coffee grounds just don’t work well in a cold brew machine. I love brewing from my regular machine but don’t like watered down coffee. This thing chills your coffee in a couple of minutes. You fill 2 of the chambers with water and freeze. You brew your coffee right into it or pour from the pot. Then the coffee chills between the two chambers without watering it down.
The price point is amazing and I am so happy I purchased it!

I made sure to follow instructions and only fill below the Max line and yet the HyperChiller cracked after second use. I even tried to fix with plastic glue and filled again well below max line and the crack grew after freezing. Otherwise does work great in cooling down hot coffee.
Update: downgrading another star as this crack keeps growing and doesn’t seem salvageable. For cracking only on the second use I wouldn’t recommend.

I prefer iced coffee over hot anytime of the year.
This is the easiest and fastest method of preparing iced coffee without being watered down that I have ever tried. I have tried many ways, including refrigerator iced coffee (brewed in fridge), k-cups sold specifically to make iced coffee, and just letting the coffee cook on porch in winter lol. None of these are convenient or quick, and the k-cups taste watered down.
Now, I usually use regular k-cups, brew, and then pour immediately in the chiller. While I wait a couple minutes to cool, I prepare add ice to my glass. Usually by the time I get my glass of ice ready, coffee is about done in chiller. I just pour in my glass of ice, and bam, done!! I rinse the chiller out and put it back in the freezer. I only take the chiller apart and replace the water inside once every week or two. This is quick and has worked fine for me. Not sure if it is specified to replace water or when, but since the water inside doesn’t touch the coffee, it doesn’t need to be done often at all. I mainly replace the water just in case some is lost to evaporation after awhile.
I suggest that if you use a j-cup, you brew into a cup with a pouring lip. I use a glass measuring cup for this purpose. When I used a regular coffee cup, I spilled some pouring into the chiller every time. That was an easy fix, and if your pouring from a coffee carafe, that will not be an issue. Buy it! I have used this everyday since purchase months ago, and it is still working great.

I love this little chiller and it chills coffee, but how do I get the lid off of the thing once it’s frozen in the freezer. I’d hate to throw it away because I can’t get it open to clean. grrr.

The media could not be loaded.
So after using this thing for 5 or so months, I still really enjoy it. It cools my coffee very quickly and helps me with that iced coffee craving.
One thing though, the item advertises that it uses water instead of a cooling liquid so its dishwasher safe. Id advise against the dishwasher as the first time I did it, it warped the container and I can no longer get the lid back on properly.

This product is simple to use and is so much cheaper than buying an iced coffee at retail! Im in a rural area and our nearest Scooters is 20 miles away and my favorite ,Starbucks, is 60 miles away. Now I can easily make my own flavored iced coffee drinks at home any time I want.

I absolutely love my drink chiller. I use it nearly everyday for my morning iced coffee. This makes for a great gift as well! Highly recommend

The unit works well and easy to use. However, I would suggest caution in use to prevent damage. When the unit is first taken out of the freezer, you should wait a bit before pouring hot liquid onto the lid as instructed. When I poured hot coffee onto the still frozen lid, the thermal shock made “cracking” sounds, and I think eventually this will cause the lid to crack. So I would advise wait a bit for the lid to warm to room temperature before using.

Works great and is easy to clean and use multiple times.
