I have been using a 20+ year old Krups burr grinder for my daily pot of drip grind coffee using dark roast beans. My biggest frustration has been how messy it is. The static clean makes it difficult to dump the grinds without having them fly all over the place. My daily routine included use wand vac to clean them up and damp cloth to finish the process. I have been using this little guy for 3 weeks now. The first time I used it, it was set for fine grind. When I dumped that there was a lot of static clean. However, after I washed it with soap and water the cling disappeared and I have not had any mess to clean up since with it set for a drip (course) grind. The only con is the small size of the hopper. I make a 20 oz (4 cups) pot and I need one & half loads of the hopper for my taste. However, with the easy cleanup, it is no problem at all. If you are making a full pot of drip grind, it will take a little more work that might be more discouraging.

Other things I like about it the uniform grind; small size; the sleek look; the all metal construction of the grinder and the receiving cup, how quiet it is relative to the Krups; and how easy it easy to take apart and clean.

    I love this grinder.

This is the saddest high-rating review on Amazon, I think. I am so delighted by this grinder. It’s stepless! It’s tiny and has a super compact footprint, it has a magnetic catch cup that retains NOTHING when you tap it out into your portafilter, the bellows on top blows out every last grain that’s left inside, and the grind is super consistent and makes a delicious cup… when it can get through the coffee. I regret to say, this chokes on lightly roasted specialty coffee. I first tried it on the infamous Aldi Peru single origin, and it chewed right through it like a champ. Next I went for the Mad Goat Ethiopian, and it got through that just fine as well. But then I tried a light roast from a local specialty roaster, and it locked up. It would grind for a few seconds, then stutter, then grind, then stutter. I tapped it a few times and it eventually got through it, but I think over time you’re going to burn out your motor if you’re trying to do specialty every day. I am so, so sad to return this guy. It’s so good. If you don’t drink a lot of light roasts, buy this. You will be delighted.

The machine itself is great and worked as it should, however, I use a Flair Pro 2 espresso maker and it does NOT grind it fine enough to create any resistance in pressure. I usually hand grind and I use the finest setting which works good for alot of beans I’ve tried but no matter what bean I used or how much I tried to get this electric one to go any finer, it just wouldn’t. Sadly I had to return it and continue to just hand grind my beans.

I’m a longtime espresso geek. I’ve owned many, many expresso machines, from “steam toys” back in the 1990s, to 70-lb. prosumer double-boilers. I’ve owned numerous machine grinders for espresso, including flat burr (Baratza Vario and Compak K3 Touch, Roma) and conicals (early Ascaso i-Mini aluminum, Baratza Sette 270, Turin SD40). I’m always on the lookout for inexpensive grinders that can do espresso properly — stepless, uniform grind, no boulders and dust, low static, non-clumpy, quiet, good design and build quality, easy maintenance, etc.

The Viesimple grinder is like a good conical burr hand grinder with an electric motor. RPMs are slow (a good thing). No motor stalling, even with light-roasted beans. The grinder isn’t fast, but it’s probably the quietest grinder I’ve ever used. And it’s tiny. REALLY tiny. But substantial and seemingly well-made. As for reviewers who write that it won’t grind fine enough for espresso — maybe their grinder won’t. Mine does, and the grind it makes produces shots that rival my Turin SD40 and Baratza 270. Also, some reviewers have said that people who use the grinder for espresso must be novices using pressurized baskets with a coarser grind. Nope. I’m an old hand who’s been roasting my own beans for 20 years. I’ve followed all the changes in espresso from old school to fourth wave. I use a naked portafilter and IMS 22g competition baskets.

For the price (basically, dirt cheap), the little silver grinder I received is amazing, and fine for espresso. I can’t say how good it is for drip or French Press, since I don’t typically use those methods (I have all the equipment for those, but I prefer espresso).

This review is less an endorsement than a testimonial. My grinder is terrific. I took a chance and struck gold. I can’t say for sure that you’d get one as good as I got. Maybe.

This grinder advertises it can grind fine enough for espresso but that is a blatant lie. It doesn’t even grind beans as fine as my old Hamilton beach grinder that cost less than half of this machine. Avoid this garbage at all cost

Small, quiet and visually pleasing. Wish the motor was stronger and it didn’t stall out 30x times per dose

This is a beautiful grinder and I don’t want to return it, but it has some flaws. I bought two grinders. The other was a manual grinder, the KinGrinder K6. I’ll be keeping it, as it does a magnificent job.

This grinder is quiet and fast. It is very solid and small. It grinds enough beans for 4-5 cups of drip coffee and does a very nice job at the finer settings. As stated above, it’s beautiful as well.

I purchased the silver model, because the price went up on both it and the black version last week. Unfortunately, the black is now more expensive than the silver.

What I don’t like is a somewhat uneven grind as you go up in coarseness. Also the finest grind is not fine enough for an unpressurized portafilter. I don’t know, but it may not be enough for pressurized. It does very well with my mokka pot, though. In fact it is perfect for that type of brewing.

Like I said. I really like this grinder, but can’t justify having two and one had to go. It’s really pretty good for this price. I’m keeping the hand grinder.
